actually...i recall a thread where they were talking about their hosting setup.....it's fancier then ours, so i don't really suspect it to be the case.  it does appear to be hosted with a large, and reasonably respected host as well.


honestly....i think one of the bigger issues is they have some random guy who is unassociated with stanford on the other side of the world that apparently has no time these days in charge of running the forum.  in theory, having someone not associated with stanford is a good thing as they can attempt to keep the forums honest, and not try and hide if they ever should hit a case like a certain other project, in which things turn sour yet people aren't allowed to question it.


but...as i understand, the guy running it has no time these days, to even upgrade forum software (at one point, it was extremely dated  - they did update a few months ago, but it wouldn't surprise me if they're a version or two behind again).  let alone investigate what sort of server issues may have cropped up.


still seems to be crawling right now, but i don't see the error messages....on second thought, were there a lot of guests on at the time?  perhaps there were so many people hitting the server at the time, that it didn't like it.

I got the error once yesterday. Hit the 'ol "Reload" button and the page I was after came right up.
