can those of you that are using a dc stat bar, and have boinc project stats in it check your stats....i'm curious to see if things appear to be working as intended.  they should be updated to whatever they were about 5 hours ago. Thinking

*takes a deep breath, and adds seti to the database*

 Shocked

updating almost all currently active boinc projects took 1403 seconds.....  any bets on whether seti will take more, or less then that? rofl  for a bit of perspective, the project that took the longest took 1/3 of that time, and has a filesize of data about 1/4 that of seti.... lol

1403 for almost all boinc projects (minus seti and 2 small projects whose sites were down)....

2347 for seti alone Shocked lol

over an hour to do a simple update, and that was only boinc projects....makes you wonder how the more complex stat sites run things.  free-dc stats must be pretty crazy, considering.... lol

What chance that the stats are not all updated in one batch?  Thinking

Orrrrrrr ...

There's another source of stats for those projects that's either better connected or simply sends things in a more compact format.

they probably aren't all updated in one batch....but they would have to update them all over time regardless.  free-dc updates multiple times a day, so they have to keep some form of scheduling down.  mine is set to update every 6 hours, and only if there is a new timestamp on the file.

no on another source for stats - if you follow some of the new boinc project forums, you'll see the stat people gathering in a thread waiting for when the stat files will be available for 3rd party stat sites. lol  same stat files i'm using...an xml version of everyone's stats, g-zipped.

Mebbe they just spend a packet on hardware then?  Huh?  Who knows, maybe they even have a "deal" going to get better abndwidth or sommat.

more likely they have "real" servers...check the monthly cost of free-dc http://stats.free-dc.org/new/projpage.php?proj=dimes (under the paypal button)

that much probably gets them a dedicated dual core server in a nice data center lol

Mrs Fing has no credit card that would be capable of being used for the purchase.

Somehow all the card offers she gets in the mail somehow mysteriously fall in the shredder.  Whistle
