I'm in tech overload. Can't make a decision, so will have to actually trudge into a store and try the things. Looking at other people's not convincing me. Meanwhile LG continues to work and many reviews on the smart phones talk of the continual need to charge them, after as little as 7 hours. LG will run days, even on 5 year old battery

Gotta plug my HTC in at least every third day. Every night if'n I actually use the damn thing. Touch pro is a nice toy.. Starting to look around a bit to see if there's a high capacity battery for the thing.

Kinda narrowed things down to HTC, Motorola version of Crackberry, Crackberry itself [which has gotten mixed reviews from users], or actual iPhone. If I see Samsung version, that goes in the pile as well, but got to handle the others. Seems AT&T not tacking on so many data charges and it has 3G in case I decide to wander abroad in the next year or so. which models of what? my crackberry goes about 2 days, but that's mostly due to spending 30+ hours a week 40 floors high leading to poor signal...

Ah. Better to hear from you guys than to read online reviews, which apparently include rich bitch teens who send 5k texts a week and call it low usage Think I've sent maybe 3 in my life? Figger whatever phone I get, will need bluetooth ear thingie so I can make extended calls w/o it stuck to the side of my face, car charger and extra memory card so I can load manuscripts in. Any other gadget recommendations?

remember you saying something about budget save money on ear thingie and separate chargers (car & home) go to home depot and buy a case of duct tape - to hold phone up to your ear for hands free use . . . . . . . yeah I know

An elastic headband under the chin would do the same thing and in GP's favorite color, lime green, would be much more stylish.

buy several in different colors- one for each outfit she has when they get dirty from drool or food - you just toss it in the washer

Something makes me think she won't like the idea even though it has the added benifit of holding in a sagging neck and jowls.

Don't pick up the cheapest bluetooth thingy you can find...do a bit of research there as well. If you shop eBay for bluetooth stuff, watch out for knockoffs. Also, shop around online for better pricing on memory cards. eBay also has chargers for less then you'll find at the store, though they're typically offbrand in case that bothers you...though I haven't had problems with them yet. Might check to see what you get with the phone...mine came with an 8gb memory card straight out of the box. Or...you can try to talk the sales person into giving you a discount for getting the accessories at the same time as the phone - didn't seem to be uncommon at Verizon.
