Poem@home cheerleader and Mod!!!

Greetings  Cheesy

Going to get my server up and running next month.

Need a decent printer to run off the network.
Preferably one that won't sulk at Vista or Win 7 as I have a mixed OS collection.

Or would the printer be installed directly to server with WHS?

Anyway, can you folks please suggest a good value printer?

It will make coursework and homework so much easier for the girls, and I have lots of coursework to do too  Doh

Would a budget laser be the way to go?

Your advice please.

Happy Christmas to all  Thumbs Up

..........preferably not too expensive cos every printer I had to date saw little use and inks dried out.

Can't help thinking a laser would be the way to go.

I'm still running my old Brother 1440 laser printer.  Fairly inexpensive (Even the new ones) Damn reliable to boot. and the toner doesn't break the bank.

Newer models are network ready either direct connect to a router or wireless.

I'm done wasting money on inkjet printers. Ink always goes south before I get it all used. Laser can sit there for months if needed and still spit out a perfect page when told to do so.

I've got one of these: http://www.brother-usa.com/Printer/modeldetail.aspx?ProductID=hl2170W

Runs on the network fairly painfree.  Windows 7 was able to find it all by itself when I told it to search for a printer on a network, and it had the drivers ready to install - was ready to print in seconds.  I think after rebates and coupons, I picked it up for under $50.  Have seen after-market toner for it around $25.
