The World Community Grid is a project run in association with the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB). The initial and current project from this collaboration is the "Human Proteome Project".......the aim of which is to identify the proteins in the human make up and develop a further understanding of them and how they work....which in turn will hopefully lead to effective treatments for many diseases such as cancer,HIV/AIDS,malaria and Sars. In due course there will be other projects added. Presently, the project software is limited to the Windows operating system but a Linux client is said to be almost ready....which could add substantially to the project user base. Hi Evo  Still feeling my way around myself. Perhaps, when more useful info/links have been gathered I could put together a WCG FAQ. Perhaps that would be a useful addition for any new members to the project? So don't be offended if I prune out posts at some point and just keep the relevant links |

Does anyone here have any idea what UD being listed as a "Partner" means on the WCG site on THIS page ? Does it just mean they are running the UD client and related stuff, or does it mean anymore than that ? I would ask over at WCG, but I dont want to go thru all the registration sh*t just to post there. I like the fact that they now have a BOINC windows and linux client and it is looking more and more attractive to me if it was'nt for this UD thing. |

Are you sure that is all though ? "Partner" seems to suggest more ?
I dont know myself. I'm just looking for something after FAD.
WCG and Rosetta@home, or both look most promising so far.

Everything I've read olny places them close in two places.
1) The UD Software, and
2) HPF data comes from the same ISB.
If you ask grid, the only simmilarity they will claim is the use of the UD software.

Try downloading WCG from the windows agent download link on the WCG home page. I got UD. Partner, to me, sounds more like the same entity.

Given that yu have already admitted that you didn't uninstall UD properly before trying WCG, perhaps you should amend your critical comment?
