Overall I like the new shiny, after tweaking out the heat issues. The bits that misbehave are the webcam that gets used for facial recognition and eye tracking, and the excessive lights. Don't care too much about the lights, and have most of them disabled anyhow. I thought at first the webcam feature was silly, but I do like not having to type my password, as well as the screen dimming/brightening when I am watching TV while working on the laptop. Certainly nowhere near essential, but it has been convenient

Got me one of these . A game both hubby and I was interested in came out, and we were both itching to play, but only had one computer capable of doing so. So I got me a shiny new one. Went the Alienware route as I wanted to future proof, and there weren't a lot of options with the fancy new Nvidia 10 series bits.

Well, the whistles that weren't behaving have started behaving again, at least. I did have to have Dell come out and replace the heatsink, as the thing was burning up. New one helped a bit, but undervolting helped a whole lot more! Glad I paid the extra for the unlocked CPU  lol

Uggg..   hate when the shiny bits don't work... Hmm

Got myself an Asus G571 unit back in December...  Notta bad lil rig once I got 7 up and running on it. LOL
Alienware Always seemed a bit flashy with too many LoL bells for the price.  But too be honest my Asus wasn't cheap.. lol

Got this one

Added a 500gb SSD to it this morning.  Now there's a performance booster.

i didn't think it was too bad. lol

what i'm currently griping about is spending $$$$ on a fancy alienware laptop, only to have the various (albeit unneeded) bells and whistles blow up.
