Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati

Thanks Charles for checking in ...... I'm trying to raise BC from the dead, and was just looking to see if anyone was still interested. Not sure what happened - been away for a while. I'm at Serious Crunchers at the moment -saw Sujo from the old Crunchers Inc. team was captain, and jumped in.

The BC board is still up, and I'm an admin again, so not sure what to do from here - but trying something. Check there or here for the time being until I can sort out WTF is going on.

RIP Base Camp Forum...apparently the company running Excoboard, where the forum was hosted, has disappeared into thin air, taking everything with it.

Hi PiNkY, Base Camp is back in action, hope you don't mind if we use this thread for planning since the base camp forum is no more.

Haven't had any coffee yet
- so bear with me, please.
Good Morning TLD & sujo1
We should focus on finding a host for Base Camp's next trek
- it's easier to use the method of exclusion.
I don't think it should be
Byteball.org Team
because as you said, sujo1, it's about money at not interaction.
Nothing wrong with money.
Something wrong with not interaction.

We should focus on finding a host for Base Camp's next trek

As always i have very little input as to what team Base Camp visits.

If you want some tips about going to a host team that will be interactive.

Try to choose a host team that,

1) Is already active on the forum.
or
2) You can get a reply from the captain.
or
3) Has at least 3 or 4 producing members.

We always use to have all the members of Base Camp make host team suggestions then vote on the team to visit.

I think we should keep in mind that forums are not as popular as they once were as most people use other platforms for social interaction, I don't use any of these so don't know how they work. Maybe team contacts can be found at WCG facebook if that exists.

Good input TLD

1. We don?t have many teams that are active on the Forum ? let alone interactive.

2. I tried two ?blind dates?.
The Public Libraries of America captain never answered.
Captain cjslman of Cahuamos did and also came with one post while we crunched there.
But that?s not interaction as we see it, is it?.
But, you?re right, TLD, if we cannot even get an answer from the captain, we shouldn?t do it.

3. This can be checked. It would be nice if such members could be enticed to post also.

I would find a vote by all Base Camp members very nice
? the problem as I see it is now to have more than one team to choose between ?

Yes, people are busy elsewhere. Not sure what you mean by
Maybe team contacts can be found at WCG facebook if that exists.

I tried to make a Facebook group for us Base Campers to gather, but it didn?t work and I closed it again.

I try to court a team where a member has posted ?Fight Alzheimer?s and Cancer?.
That would be an ideal host team if they could be shaken awake.

In the meantime, I think we could contemplate ?The Christians?
? for probably the fourth or fifth time.
They are not very active, but sometimes I see one of the members on the Forum ? they rarely post, though.

Just my thoughts this Sunday morning.

There is a new team
Mystery... Science... Theater... Team!
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,40787_offset,0#577532
It has one member so far - the captain seems sociable.

We could go to Kraland again - preferably during one of their challenges
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/team/viewMyTeam.do

In fact: I would like to do that. tanner2 gave the idea yesterday when stefada of Kraland
'proposed' to him, and tanner2 answered that he might swing by during a challenge.

I have the e-mail to Kraland capitaine Saphir12 and we're Facebook friends.
I could ask her about her challenge plans around June 1 if you think.
I remember our first Kraland trek as a very successful one.

As i said i don't have facebook and have never even seen a facebook page. I thought maybe if you were a "friend" of WCG you could communicate with other  "friends" of WCG, is that possible? Does WCG even has a facebook page?

Thinking I was sitting here, looking thru the various forum threads.  A Thought passed thru my fuzzy brain. Doh Thinking If you are looking for potential teams, why not look at the challenges? The team captains are the ones to join which means team activity.

I never gave it a thought, TLD. But yes, WCG has a Facebook page - I don't know if you can look it up without an account of your own TLD, but you could try:
https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=world%20community%20grid
It doesn't look like anything we could use for any purpose except for promoting WCG on our own Facebook accounts. I'll try to look closer into that tomorrow TLD.

@sujo1. Yes, I have thought about the teams participating in challenges, too. That was where I stumbled upon 'Public Libraries of America'  Cry
Yes, those teams have an active captain. As I see it, the only way to contact these teams/captains is to join the team. Then you get the opportunity to e-mail him. If we can get the captain to get some of his team members activated in a team thread it would be fine - well, that must be one question to ask a captain.

When the Minnesota trek is over, I can start joining promising teams as TLD probably feels most at home with SeriousCrunchers and sujo1 is a captain.
Are there any of the teams listed in SeriousCrunchers' challenges you find could be good candidates? If you check for production activity, I can travel to the teams you think could work.

Good to see Bubba again, sujo1  Thumbs Up

I have looked at WCGs Facebook page.
Saphir12, la capitaine of team Kraland, has made several posts there.
I cannot see how it is done, so I have asked her for advice.
I should like to post this:

We are Base Camp
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,17232_offset,2610#570889
We want to get in touch with team captains/members who would like to boost and promote their WCG team by paying your team a visit and interact with you in the WCG Forums.
Please make a post here:
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,17232_lastpage,yes#lastpost
- or a reply to this post  Smiley

I can make a different wording if you like.
