Saphir12 has answered me.
We can put something up somehow on the WCG Facebook page. I'll have to try it out tomorrow.
I'm with SeriousCrunchers myself now, but intend to move to Kraland
when their Kraland XI Challenge
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,40427_offset,170#578658
begins. During the remainder of May, it will be possible for me to join various teams.
Please let me know which candidates, you may have taken some liking to.

I have tried to post this message

We are Base Camp
We want to get in touch with team captains/members who would like to get a boost and promote their WCG team with a visit from a Base Camp crew in return for social interaction. Please make a post here:
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,17232_lastpage,yes#lastpost
- or a reply to this post Smiley

on the WCG page
https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=world%20community%20grid
But I cannot find out how to do it. I have e-mailed Saphir12 from team Kraland again and explained - I think - a little better what I want to do. This is what I wrote:

I think I did not express clearly what I wanted to do.
On the World Community Grid Facebook page we would
like to put an 'advertisement' up, but I cannot see how
it can be done.

We would like it to say:

I see many groups here
How can you make such one?

Do you need to have a Facebook group to post something?
I once made such one, but took it away again.
I think I could make a new one if that is necessary.

Perhaps sujo1 who is on Facebook could take a look at that WCG Facebook page and see if he can find out what to do.
And post our ad if he can do it. The text is ^^^ up there for a copy and paste job.
In principle it doesn't matter who does the posting as I see it.

Another issue
Should I inform all Base Campers of this 'meeting place' in a post in our Base Camp thread
- or should we let it mature a bit before doing it?
Does you do 'vetting' of the members as you used to do, TLD?

You can inform anybody you like, this is an open forum.
"Does you do 'vetting' of the members" if you mean vetting members of Base Camp then no i don't want any part of that.

As this - as you say - is an open Forum, there is no need for the 'vetting' you made when we had our castle.

We have an advertisement on the WCG Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=world%20community%20grid

I made a screenshot of it for you TLD which should be attached to this post.

Sorry, that attachment came doubly. I cannot see where I can edit things here.

TLD, if you have no Facebook account, I take it you cannot see the pictures I post in our Base Camp team thread when they are in an 'album' - is that right?
You can have an absolutely private and neutral Facebook account that allows you to see other pages as for instance the WCG page or what else might interest you.
Mine was such a snoopy one for a while.

No i can't see anything on facebook.
I'm not interested in facebook or any of those "social media" things. I'm a very private person and stay out of other peoples business and expect others to stay out of my business. As far as i have heard they are just interested in spying on you.

I know, TLD, and respect that even as I care about how you're doing.

Yes, they want to know all about you.
And they eat a lot of your time.
That's one reason why they host your pictures for free.
You are the product.
They want to customize the selection of ads to you and the way their algorithms determine you are.
- but what if you are a lousy consumer?
I guess there are plenty of big shoppers, tho'

I remember in our Castle - the Base Camp forum - they took 'Base Camp' literally.
They put up ads for outdoors life
- and sometimes there was a spillover from the previous visitor such as a Russian dating service  Shocked
... which definitely not was what they could sell to a woman  Grin
But then again, algorithms have been improved upon immensely since then.

Hi PiNkY, Base Camp is back in action, hope you don't mind if we use this thread for planning since the base camp forum is no more.

Go for it! I am quite pleased to stumble back here and see it being used!

Lovely mermaid! I went lurking on Facebook for you, and wanted to let you know. Please check privacy settings on your Facebook account. Its open for anyone to see what you posted, and I'm not sure you'd want that. For example, I went and saw your real life Rosie. Lovely! But it's something you might have intended to keep just shared with friends?

Pinky, how are you? Cheesy

I'm doing ok. Its unfortunately been a week of mourning, having lost my father in law last week.

Outside of that, though, life has been good! How are you?

He was only 67. Fell down the stairs horribly and hit the back of his head. It was not pretty Sad

Hope the medicine changes do well for you!

Yeah,  I heard there's some crazy stuff going on there with regards to EU privacy. As far as why to be cautious - for me at least, there are people in my life that I don't necessarily want knowing every detail. Not in a bad way, more like I don't mix personal and work life, so wouldn't want an employer knowing some details of my life. I noticed your Rosie had your license plate displayed - not sure how it works there, but here it would be a way to identify you and potentially find details like where you live. Just things I know I would want to control over who knows, as there are crazies out there, and who knows what they could use certain details for.

I'm not in contact with vaio. We're connected on Facebook, but I haven't seen him post in many years there. No, not planning on motherhood, just enjoying life. Doing lots of real life camping actually. I've stopped crunching years ago, but if I ever get back to it, perhaps I'll tag along. Cheesy

Oh, that was an awful accident.
That will take a while to digest for all who knew and loved him - not least your husband.

I live in the country of most-of-the-time the #1 happiest people in the world. The basis of this is:
1. Confidence. We have confidence in each other - also when we shouldn't have
2. At least a thousand years of equaltity between men and women
Nations where women are equal fare better.

I think conditions are much different in the USA. To the best of my knowledge I have no enemies - and I have no employer. Retired.
I think I would be easy to track me in many ways if someone wanted it, but why would they want that?

BTW Guitar Man - John Morley who visited you just recently had a stroke, which he works with rehab people to overcome as well as possible.
In the same vein: He performed at Buddy Guy's Legend. Guess who's coming to my little city come November? Buddy Guy! And who has a ticket? ME!

A few days ago, oliviathefirst - Elaine Leikim - was suggested as a friend on my Facebook. I rushed her a 'friends request'. She must be an elderly lady today.

I hope we can get in touch here or there now and then, mousie.

The do for me, too, now. I don't know what happened - they worked while sujo1, TLD and I discussed 'host team shortage'
- and now they do again after I checked off everything that could be checked.

Thank you for sharing about John, I missed his post about that with all thats been going on here. I'm glad to read that he's on the mend, and it was just his bum he fell on. Smiley Yes, he played at Buddy Guys, it was me behind the camera of his famed picture there. Cheesy Exciting that you get to see him!

Have you heard anything from Elaine? She had sent me a friend request many years ago, though haven't seen her post anything new in a long while, either.  Hope she is well!

You have a new friend request waiting for you. Wink
