i suppose, but that's not the reason. says she's been finding cooked rice spoiling faster, and seems to believe it's due to the rice cooker. not sure what the rice cooker has to do with it, but that's what she says...

Certain things do not need to be digitized...
Coffee pots and rice cookers are two of them.

I can think that than which a greater cannot be thought. Now, if that than which a greater cannot be thought existed only in the intellect, it would not be that than which a greater cannot be thought, since it can be thought to exist in reality which is greater. It follows, then, that that than which a greater cannot be thought exists in reality.

my knowledge of said cycles is...push button, wait, button pops up, rice done. not about to fiddle with it myself.

HA!! One good spike from the power grid and you'll be goin WHAAAaaa!!!! While I'm still going "click" it's working... Got a 1200 watt power inverter that says even if the mains go down, I can still use mine without risking damage to the stupid electronic crap. (Tho running the Mr.Coffee on the thing would make it kinda interesting in keeping the battery from going flat in the ol van. )

The tiger rice cooker is unplugged when not in use, and my power around here is clean.

Jobs from this new project are nice and chewy... Looking at average 7hr completion times here...

What is the best processor are you using? and what is the time for crunchy completeness?

Best? Q6600 @ 3.2ghz. Looks like it's going to complete with 7.5hrs..
Slowest The Dell, Athalon 5600+ @ 2.8ghz. Guestimate has it completing with just over 8hrs.
|
-------------------------------
|
|
|
|
looks more like they're averaging 8 hours here....and most everyone that's received the same unit as me have about 8 hours as well. 8.0-8.05 cpu hours based on that, not seeing a lot of variance.

Well... hasn't finished "yet" so we'll see what my actual time is an another hour or so..

Yup 8hrs it is...

I wonder why my Pentium D 940 (3.2GHz) 2GB RAM, won't pick up a WU for this project?
Checked the minimum system requirements. Seems ok from that standpoint.
JC: Also, the other two systems have WUs in their queues and the deadline is sufficiently remote.
JC: By my calculations, the rice WU would take ~14hrs. to complete on machine in question.

Will be interesting to see how accurate that calculation is..........especially looking at the times of the other machines crunching the same unit in the quorum of the ones I received: STATUS CPU TIME CLAIMED / GRANTED Pending Validation 8.04 68.9 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.03 52.0 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.03 151.1 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.02 130.4 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.02 127.3 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 35.7 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 159.6 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 142.5 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8 146.3 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 89.4 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 123.9 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 181.7 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8 130.0 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8 130.0 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.05 24.0 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.03 124.1 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.03 113.9 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.02 22.2 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.02 90.7 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.02 157.7 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.02 48.8 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.02 30.4 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.02 121.8 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 121.3 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 112.8 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8.01 106.2 / 0.0 Pending Validation 8 149.4 / 0.0 8-8.05 hours, some with REALLY low benchmarks.

I'm hearing that they are all set for 8hrs completion, it's just the size of the results file that varies.

that would explain it...thought it was a little too coincidental that they all ran 8 hours.

turns out the calculation was way off. the WU loaded a time estimate of just under 8hrs.

Yep as DA says, they all run for 8 hours regardless of machine, the faster the machine the more data it produces and uploads and therefore the more points you get
