From knreed:

We are experiencing an issue with communications over SSL. Members will see error reports in the message tab of the BOINC client or if using the website they will see messages indicating that a web page cannot be displayed.

This issue appears to be similar to the issue we experienced a few weeks ago that was reported here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=24301

We are investigating now and will report more when we have more information.

Update from knreed:

This issue is confirmed as a repeat of the previous issue. We are opening a ticket with the vendor of the load balancer. We are now running on our backup load balancer and you should be able to run as normal now.

I've been around, yeah.  The only complaints I've heard about WCG that haven't been a load of twaddle have been about the conduct of certain CAs.  Certain other projects ... yeah ... even that would be a vast improvement.  Doh

That has always been a problem with this project......It was a carry over from that project that can not be named...............

People forget that WCG was considered "the other project", the "ring-in" project by those at that project.  The only thing they ever had directly in common was that WCG started off using the same software, which WCG modified and maintained themselves from then on (since the original writers simply couldn't be arsed).  Nobody from the administration of the former went to WCG.  Regardless, there's always been that same accusation as well as others regarding who gets the results (for example) that no amount of official answers and documents showing the facts have ever been able to quash.  The CAs, and one in particular, have been the only valid criticism I've seen.  Consider though, that WCG really only has one complete dick of a CA, where there were ... well there were very very few over there that weren't complete, lying dicks to be honest.

Well I'm not even going to try and defend some of the project participants.  There's one or two I can think of that ... let's just say I wouldn't be exactly heart broken if they had an accident.

The forum at WCG was a decent place to hang out and post in until that other place went belly up and the dregs of society there had to find another home to infest.  All those hypocrits adopted it quickly, called it their own, and proceeded to drive away anyone who didn't have their worms-eye view of things.  I left them to their bible thumping a long time ago.

I got the sharp end of certain people over there for asking a simple question in the Beta forum which wasn't in the FAQ. Apparently it's against the rules to be a newcomer as you have to be aware off all answers to previous questions:

Quote from: Someone on the WCG forum with an attitude
You do have a straight answer. It's the same every time this question is asked:

World Community Grid policy is to not announce launch dates ahead of time.

Another user demanded an apology from me when I told them that I didn't know as I'd just joined the Beta testing group, and I felt that some of the answers were needlessly blunt and critical of me for asking!

Well, pardon me!

Another good reason not to run WCG.................

No, it's an example of ignorant users which EVERY project has.  There are folks like that, ones who jump on newbies, on EVERY large forum these days.
