She has a 3PM appointment this afternoon. Very weak, slid off the sofa with a thump trying to get down and hasn't touched her water bowl  or done more than lick her wet food in 3 days. I'm terrified seeing her so weak and hoping this is something an IV and some antibiotics can patch up. Cry

Vet [who's in his 80s and started on cows under his dad, an old fashioned country vet] flummoxed. She looks otherwise clear. No diabetes, thank God, but the specific gravity on her urine is a hair off. He's sending a sample to see if she has a UTI. If not, I'll have to drag her back for blood work.

She perked up enough to swear terribly when he stuck the thermometer up her bum. But he can't figure her general malaise and suddenly not drinking.

Puss managed 3 1/2 cooked shrimp tonight, but she's still very weak and ill, so I'm hauling her in to get bloodwork in the morning. Sudder lumpling still motoring, but you can see in her eyes that she's whipped and frail.

Lab results won't be back until Friday. She's home and resting on her cushion.

Doc put a rush on the lab results. Did no good. On paper, at least, Puss is the healthiest cat out there. He's now concerned it's either an obscure cancer that wouldn't show on the bloodwork or old age.

Puss now has shots of steriods and B-12 on board to see if it'll perk her up. I have a tube of supplemental cat chow to squirt in her mouth as soon as she comes out from under the bed. Her NOT happy with me right now. Donkey Kong

Dunno. No real visible change. Won't even lap the supplemental goody until I poke my finger in her mouth. Then she politely cleans it off for me, but turns her face away if offered w/o the poke in the mouth. My chow hound doesn't want to eat. This is not good. She's looking bony under all that fur. And so weak that turning around or over in her spot takes visible effort. Cry

Will save her a good chunk of my yoghurt tonight and see if she'll work on that.

Now even that's stopped going in. She's so weak that she laid her face against the rim of the water bowl when I brought it to her and drank lying down. Cry

Aw doodness. She's still motoring when I love on her. But I'm having to be very gentle because she's little more than bones now. Won't be surprised if she hasn't dropped down to 9 pounds Cry

I'll go kiss her on the noggin' for you

Puss has a 10:30 with the vet. They're going to see about giving her an IV for dehydration. As long as she's still trying to stagger around, I'm going to keep trying.

She got mineral oil, as he can't find anything else wrong with her and is wondering if she has a hair ball or impacted bowel. I now have 2 syringes to gtry and force feed her and get 2 oz of water a day into her. Come Monday, if she's not improved, he'll put her on an IV.

Oh sure. Put a tube behind her teeth, he says, while 3 techs help hold her down. I'm on my own here! Shocked

She's down to 9 3/4 pounds. Still dropping fast. Confused

As of yesterday noonish, the news was much better. Doc sedated her, put an IV in, fed her a little by tube straight into the stomach. He said she perked up enough after she came out of it, to polish off the rest of the can of high calorie stuff. That was 5 oz of solids in on a tummy that hadn't had solids in over a week. He decided to keep her in overnight and see how she did on fluid intake and eating. LGC ain't ready to check out yet, no matter what's going on with the food. She'd gotten well enough on the juice from 3 cans of tuna [water packed] to jump up on the bed next to me Sunday night. So we'll see how she is today.

Hopefully I can bring her home with fancy chow that costs more'n steak. Thinking

As long as those eyes are bright and the ears in the receptor mode, my credit card is at the vet's disposal.
