I'm suspecting it's the trackpoint drivers, though the same ones on beta didn't have an issue.  The first time it happened, I was scrolling down a page, then it froze, then screen went blank and gave me some error message when i tried to control-alt-delete saying it couldn't open the window or some such. Doh  Second time (the screen shot above) was again just scrolling down the page. lol Doh  Either that or firefox. lol

not too many complaints here so far....the two issues that come to mind that i had with the beta was the no warning when battery low, and i think my printer was having issues....both of which seem to be corrected in the rc.  nvidia drivers seem to be ok now too, after finding out that i needed to pull the one off the laptop manu. website instead, so i can have fancy aero theme. lol

spent most of the day yesterday using ie8 to see if i could replicate the scrolling issue i had on firefox.  the times it did seem like it was about to do the same, it just froze for a few seconds, then kicked back in again.  still thinking driver issue for the trackpoint...will have to keep an eye out for an updated driver, as i don't want to revert to the trackpad. lol

Has anybody else tried the "Virtual Windows XP" released with Win 7? I find it a bit clunky, but nethertheless, it permit me use of my scanner without rebooting to Win XP or Vista.

Pista won't be too bad once you loose all the incompatible bloatware...

Did they send ya an OS disk with the thing?  Had to email 'em to get the disk for that junker rig I bought from them.

Sent all sorts of disks...one of them labeled "operating system", but not the traditional hologramy disk ms usually provides (though the ms office disk looks like a typical hologram type disk). Thinking

a little disappointed that they stopped giving out the little extras that came with their xps line...still get the disks at least, and paper manual as opposed to a pdf, though they used to also include a laptop sleeve and binder to hold the disks/manuals.  not a big deal, though was a nice touch when they had it.

Upscaled resolution you ask?  Res on the 24" monitor is 1920x1200 (16x10) Res on the 32" TV is 1366x768 (16x9) So on the TV the SD stuff is blow up to just about twice it's original size.

Well i cut the commercials out of several movies today and readyboost made a noticeable difference stitching the movie back together. However during the encoding process from .mpg to .avi there was very little if any noticeable difference..
I think i'll pick up an 8G stick next order and try that..

AVI?  Why AVI?  You stitching DIVX or XVid for compression with that?

Encoding always takes a while for me. Going from (Oh what is it they use with the DVDs...)  Mpg to MP4 takes anywhere from 30-45min depending on the settings I use.  But I wind up with a file that's about a gig smaller and the AC3 encoded 6 channel sound.

speaking of filling of hard drive with vids....i decided to finally fill up the TB drive sitting in the HTPC, playing rip the dvd collection today.  getting closer to the empty mark. No Evil  curious...i seem to recall reading not so good stuff about the 2TB drives a while back...anyone hear if they've improved since? Thinking  i know a 1TB drive is cheaper, but as i only have space in the box for one more drive, may as well make the most of that space when i do put something there. Thinking

i looked at the specs and pulled out a measuring tape to be sure. Tongue  thing measures just barely 3 inches wide....the space i have on top of the pc is barely 2 inches. space on top of the receiver looks about the same, and even if it was more, i wouldn't want to put hard drives on top of something that gets hot enough to cook an egg on.  enough space on top of the cable box, but that gets pretty toasty when running long enough as well. lol  so i'm left with...the shelf with the wii stuff, which probably is farther then the cable will reach (i know i know, get a longer usb lol ) or on top of the sub, and something tells me putting hard drives on top of sub is not so good idea. No Evil

OH NO! She might have to organize the spaghetti mess..

the only thing I'd worry about having the drives sitting back there is the possibility of your feline chewing on the wires or knocking a plug loose.

feline chewing on the wires or knocking a plug loose.

more likely the latter... Tongue  she likes killing the power on my modem....that follows the same "throw it where it fits" idea, and sits under the bed where the cable comes in, which happens to be her preferred hiding place. lol

she's gotten a bit curious lately around the entertainment center too, making that idea even more suspect... lol  in fact her newest hiding spot is the space directly under it... rofl

Recorded in .mpg then i cut the comercials out with memcorder in MediaPortal then encode to .AVI becuase there small and i like them, with AutoGK. or DVDFab. Can turn a 8G .mpg file into a 2G .AVI (Xvid) file.

Going insane..  Dumped the Win-7rc off'n the desktop..  Loading up the 64bit Enterprise edition...

Interesting that the X-Fi sound card package I got from Win-Update has the creative updater with it.
Cool...  Let's see if these drivers they shelling out actually work.

[Downloading the rest of the creative software ATM.  Nice of them to have those available via the updater.

Update...

Too bad the creative labs provided software don't work.  No surprise there.... (Can not find supported device setup will now exit)  They REALLY need to stop putting driver version checks in their installers. Dumbasses.

No worries.  The package provided by Daniel_K works flawlessly.  rofl

Lets see..   Thinking
All drivers working?  Check
Games run? Check
audio toys/software work? Check
stability? Check

Guess I'll go with the purchase of the 64bit flavor..
