ys just bought a new laptop with windows 7 installed - home premium -:thumb:
(finally realized he got [slightly modified] on price with first laptop from circuit city a few years ago)

is the networking with win 7 at all compatible with win XP (ms home) if I remember correctly
 for printer sharing, file sharing or transfer etc.

he can connect to the internet with wireless or wired to the router.
he has been out of town the past week and only got the new shinny 2 days before he left
I am not allowed to touch it yet  Whistle .... geee I wonder why he feels that way about dear old dad
... he took both laptops with him last week Doh rofl.... no trust at alll

Networking will need to be set as a "Work" network for it to talk to XP.

I "think" Win-7 uses workgroup as the default.  Easy enough to change tho.

I always use a non "MS provided worgroup name on the networks I set up.

Just right click on Computer and choose properties. Hit "Change" where the Computer name and workgroup settings are listed and punch in what ever you want to use.  Process is similar in XP should you choose to use a non-standard workgroup name.

Ya just gotta make sure they both match. lol

Everything I build new, which isn't much these days, I load with windows 7........I still like XP the best though....

Win7 has a smaller footprint.......... than XP and definitely an improvement over PISTA
