yeah, i guess the post with the reasoning and all didn't quite make it over...

basically, with the old forum software we were using, something seemed to break whenever i added security updates, so it needed a lot of babying.  i didn't want to have it be so dependent on me, especially if it gets to a point some day where i don't have the time to baby it.  example of what i mean....2 software/security updates ago, the bbcode for quoting someone in PM's broke, as well as the ability to resend password.  the following update was followed by people having login troubles, and the bbcode for url's broke (though managed to hack up my own fix for the meantime).  so, it became deal with board that felt like it was slowly breaking, or change forum software.  i chose the second route, as the first felt like it was simply a bandaid that didn't always fix things.

when it came to changing forum software...there was really only two options in mind.  one being reverting to the stock version of what we were using.  i've come to really dislike vanilla phpbb, too used to having a bit more i guess... Tongue  then there was the software we're now using, which comes with a lot more features at stock.  i suppose there were a couple other options for software...vb or ipb(what your forum is using), they aren't free, and i really dislike the way they handle some things like new post icons.

what don't you like about the change?  the look?  or just not fond of change?
