Chicago weather update......70F...cool lake breeze. Too bad you're on the road, Pinky. nah, the only thing wrong is there ain't no beach nearby... weather hits 85+ in chicago, and i have the option of taking a short walk to either montrose or foster beach.

got about that hot last weekend. i kicked the fan up from slow to medium speed. was up around the triple digits shortly after getting to tx on monday...i simply sat back wondering a) where the beach was and b) why texans seem to overcompensate with the a/c, feeling some need to make it 60f. don't get me wrong...i'm perfectly fine with 60f....when it's OUTSIDE. how do folks not get sick going from such temperature jumps?

They hold their breath while running between cold buildings and cold cars. The trick is not to breathe in any hot air while being outside as little as possible. Just closed up and turned the A/C on before the house can heat up from today's predicted 90F. BTW: Welcome home, Pinky.

60f in Texas offices and such? That's so our core temps are low enough we don't heat up enough to sweat walking to our cars. Holding your breath helps prolong the effect.
Here's a thought for ya Pinky. You might want to go ahead and get that A/C set up. Just so you're not kicking yourself in the backside while trying to wrestle it in place on a 100+f day.

Crazy hot here and most everywhere else. I think fing lives in nearly the only part of the country where you can't risk heat stroke just by taking out the trash.
Looking forward to Saturday when it could be below 90F for the first time in awhile.

ys is out in Montana - grad school at UM in Missoula was around 70 last week end called last night complaining about how cold it was (20 something) as he is walking around campus heading for the bus stop (no hat or gloves)- had to go to the mall and buy some nice pants and shoes for some event he was required to attend this week end I suggested he buy a winter coat --- a real winter coat not another wind breaker like he has had for the past 10 years he called this morning to complain he was to hot with the coat on told him to unzip his coat
