Hi

Well, we want the board to be as open as possible....within acceptable bounds of course.  Cheesy

Feel free to promote your team/project etc all you want within the relevant board sections.

We are currently considering our forum guidelines but I think most people are well aware of the boundries  Cheesy

The guidelines will be posted up as soon as possible.

In the meantime I see no problem with wearing your sig etc wherever you want (other than the games section).

Hi, everyone!  Nice board Viao.  Better than Find-a-Drug.  I believe someone at Find-a-Drug is color deficient. Rolleyes

Consider this: I was a moderator in the beginning at FaD when all of us were renegades and malcontents from other projects.  It isn't a coincidence that egos clashed because my ego was in the way also.  The tumultuous first year set the tone for a great community.  To the best of my knowledge, only one producing member of FaD has ever been banned...for a week.  He hasn't posted since, however.

As FaD matured, we all got along better and censorship of posts was no longer necessary.  I was in hot water a lot for deleting words (and a whole topic once).  I didn't know that people in the UK took censorship so personally.  Oops  I've learned a lot, and things are running smoothly now.

Three years of being on the board almost every day for 12 to 18 hours burned me out.  I am truly enjoying myself now that I don't feeL so "responsible" for the success of the project.  We expected 25 to 50 thousand members within months, and I am now thankful that it didn't grow that rapidly.  We were on version 1.10 first, and now we are on version 1.25g with v1.30c in beta testing.  If we had had that many people, we would have had nearly all members angry with us because the early clients (prior to v1.21) had problems.  One of the reasons that I haven't written a definitive guide to running FaD is the fact that THINK has revised the program so many times.  My current guide is called "DON'T READ THIS.  POST FIRST." and it is a sticky in Member to Member Support.

Scribbling to Order

Having taken over from Vester as a Mod I can certainly vouch for the fact that it is a much easier job than at UD. I have only used my powers once, and that was to remove links and text from a recruiting/advertising post from Nude Russian Ladies - having first added them to my favourites! Twisted

I joined when it was 1.21 I believe and Vester certainly kept the place running smooth and by helping lots Smiley  I have a lot of respect for you  Wave

Just imaging if there where that many members all queries would need to start with the larger molecule sets to so you get to do a job, even though most of it would just be doing it for the sake of keeping people happy.

Personally I think FaD is at a nice size at the moment

- nothing needs to be rushed.

- we're crunching faster than they (scientest not FaD) can find new targets.

- All the best people are there already  Thumbs Up

Though I do wish they would take up the offers from people to help out modernising their website and pretty up the stats a little.

It would help if there were links to other stats sites.  I need to add them to my sticky.  Got 'em, FC?  I nuked and reloaded my HD last week.

Thanks, Fluffy Chicken.  I added links, but I don't think I'll be able to keep up with any additional ones.  Whew!  At one time, THINK asked for a volunteer to be stats master.  I see lots of eligible candidates. Smiley  Of course there's a difference between maintaining the FaD stats data base and parsing the tables.
