Signature Rules & Guidelines

Quick version of the guidelines: keep signatures short and dial-up friendly

Detailed version:

    1) No more than one line of sig boxes/images, plus about 3 lines of text(3 lines at standard size 12 font...less lines if you use larger font)  Or as an alternative no sig box/images and about 6 lines of text, or no text and two images/sig box lines.  The standard stars some may use for stats will be counted as text.

    2) Images should be of reasonable file size(under 20kb as a guide...if it's larger then that, it's probably something people don't want to see after every post Wink ), no higher than 100pixels.

    3) No more then 800 pixels wide per line, text or images...more then 800 pixels of text or images will wrap on 1024x768, the wrapped line will count as a second line of text, regardless of how it shows on your monitor.

    4) Images should be hosted on a site with good bandwidth, such as imageshack. Hosting on home ISP servers could cause image loading problems for some people, especially those in other countries than the one hosting. Images should not be linked from sites without the permission of the owner (bandwidth stealing). If in doubt, use imageshack, browse for the file and then paste the originating URL in to the location box... this will load the image onto imageshack and give you a new direct URL.

    5) Sigs should not contain offensive or explicit material.

    6) Excessive blank lines should also be avoided...if your entire sig is longer then one sig box plus a few lines of text, this may be seen as unacceptable. [/list]

Moderators will remind those whose sigs break the rules via PM the first time.  If the user does not correct their sig, or repeatedly breaks sig rules, moderators will remove the user's sig.

If you are unsure about your or someone elses sig, check with one of the moderators.
