Yep. They funded spotters to count them. Tried for days last summer to cut a young female out of a drift net that'd gotten wrapped around her. Frogmen risking their lives getting in the water with her. But it'd cut too deep into her and they couldn't cut it. Cry

Between the immigration boys overhead to keep the smugglers out, the subs below that can pop right up next to any boaters disturbing our big babies and the Coast Guard practice area offshore...population is looking up Thumbs Up Nothing like an active military presence to make people leave the whales alone. Thumbs Up  rofl

I wish ours would do the same.  Target practice on whaling vessels would be a good start. Angry

There is no Australian whaling.  Unfortunately there is still Japanese whaling that "wanders" into our waters, both locally and in Australian Antarctic waters.
I wouldn't be at all upset if a few of those ships just "went missing" under the ice-pack.

There's been very recent moves by the pro-whaling lobby getting small nations in with the likes of Japan to push for it's reintroduction.  Actually they're using th same tactics the anti-whaling lobby used to get it banned in the first place.

I thought we were growing as a species, now I'm not so sure.
